...This is the Flux Capacitor

A co-worker of mine asked me to make this cake for him. It is a marble cake, with buttercream icing. The Flux Capacitor image is a buttercream transfer. This cake was actually a little more challenging than I had first thought. The buttercream transfer was very thick, and the black, so true to color I was afraid it was going to bleed into the white. I lucked out, and that did not happen, and he was thrilled with it.

Kaela's Class Celebration

Fruit Cake - Yummy, Yummy

Kaela requested a "fruit cake" to bring in to share with her third grade class this year. I had seen this idea in my Family Fun magazine two years ago, and had attempted it for her first grade class. I am happy to say that this year's attempt was a bigger success. We cut up an entire seedless watermelon into triangles and used that as the base. We added canteloupe ball, and strawberries as a topper and used kiwi to add contrasting color. The kids loved it and even got thirds. I was suprised how much it feed.

Kaela's 9th Birthday

Paws Perfect Party

This year my daughter wanted a dog themed party. This cake was made using the Wilton 3-D lamb pan. You have to shave off the lamb's snout, and build up the legs, tail and ears. The pan instructions say to use a dense cake, but she wanted a marble cake. I had no problems with this cake. It held its shape and filled the mold. I iced the cake with a traditional buttercream. The bone in front is a sugar cookie.

Kaela's 9th Birthday

Give Your Doggie a Bone

One of the activities we did for Kaela's birthday party was to have each child decorate their own "doggie treats". I made 60+ bone shaped sugar cookies, and had the kids decorate three treats. I provided icing, melted chocolate, sprinkles, dog bone candies and colored sugars for them to use. Most finished products looked like the ones pictured above. All the kids had a great time decorating their "doggie treats". And of course, the took them home in a doggie bag!

Zander's 3rd Birthday

"The force is strong with this one."
This Darth Vadar cake was made for my friend's son's 3rd birthday. It was a white cake with chocolate buttercream icing. When I first got the order I thought I was going to make Darth Vadar black, but when I was asked for a white cake with chocolate icing, I decided to make him brown. I am glad I went this way because of how hard black is to make. I used brown piping gel to give the facial pieces their sheen.

Train Cake

Chug-a Chug-a, Choo Choo
All Aboard to the Splash Pad

I made this cake for my friend's son's birthday. He loves trains, and chose the 3-D cake. I used the Wilton 3-D Choo Choo Train cake pan. It is a chocolate cake with all buttercream decorations. I made it more steam engine like with my colors and add-ons, rather than a little kids train. This cake took longer than I antcipated because of all the star tip piping.

Milee's 6th Birthday

Magical Rainbow Unicorn
This cake was made using the Rocking Horse cake pan. It was a funfetti cake with buttercream icing. The horn was a rainbow spiral lollipop I had ordered through Oriental Trading. My daughter's birthday theme was unicorns and rainbows. She designed how she wanted the unicorn to look (mane and tail had to be rainbow, a heart needed to be on the back, and pink icing had to fit in somewhere). I painted the icing bag with red, blue, green, orange and yellow and filled with white buttercream icing to make the rainbow mane and tail.

Easter Cookies

Spring Has Sprung!

My girls and I made these for our Easter Celebration. They are sugar cookies with rolled buttercream icing. The detail work is with white royal icing. The butterflies have edible silver balls for their eyes. We outlined some of the tulip flowers with the royal icing, but decided we liked the plain ones better.

Cassie's 4th Birthday

Reach high, think big, work hard, have fun!
My friend's daughter was having an Imagination Movers themed party. I was given a picture by the little girl of how she wanted her cake. The original picture had four tiers, but I decided to go with just three. These cakes were made by using 8 x 8 and 13 x 9 pans. They are yellow and funfetti cakes. No filling this time. I used the 8 x 8 as my base and then cut down the 13 x 9 into smaller squares to stack. The entire cake is iced in buttercream frosting.

Lucky Cookies

These are sugar cookies with rolled buttercream icing. I made them for my daughter's Daisy Troop. I wrapped each cookie in a clear bag and tied them with green ribbon that read, "Made With Love" on it. I forgot to take an after picture.
